Track Name: Me and My Uncle
Me and my uncle went riding down
South Colorado, west Texas bound
We stopped over in Santa Fe
That being the point of about half way
And you know it was the hottest part of the day

I took the horses up to the stall
Went to the barroom those drinks were tall
Six days in the saddle you know my body hurt
It being summer I took off my shirt
And tried to wash off some of that dusty dirt

West Texas cowboys, they all around
With liquor and money they loaded down
So soon after payday you know it seemed a shame
And being my uncle he start playing the game
Hi-lo jacks and the winner take the rein

My uncle start winning, cowboys got sore
One of them called him and then two more
Accused him of cheating, no it could not be
I know my uncle and he’s as honest as me
And I’m as honest as a gambling man can be

Now one of them cowboys, he starts to draw
I shot him down lord he never saw
Shot me another, that woke the law
In the confusion, my uncle grabbed the gold
And we hi-tailed it down to Mexico

Now them cowboys are out of their gold
And my uncle god rest his soul
Taught me good lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, I got that gold
And I left him dead out there by the side of the road

Track Name: Boxcar Blues
Well there’s a big old Buick at the Baptist church
A Cadillac at the church of Christ
I parked my camel in the old haystack
I been searching for that needle all night
There ain’t going to be no radial tires
Turning on the streets of gold
So I’m going down to the railroad track
Watch those lonesome boxcars roll

If you ever heard the whistle of an old freight train
Beating out a beautiful tune
If you ever seen the silver of the railroad tracks
Shining in the light of the moon
If you ever felt the locomotive shake the ground
I know you won’t need to be told
Why I’m going down to the railroad track
Watch those lonesome boxcars roll

Track Name: Brass Buttons
Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes
Warm evenings, pale mornings, bottle of blues
And the tiny golden pins that she wore up in her hair
Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes

My mind was young until she grew
My secret thoughts known only to a few
It was a dream much too real to be leaning on too long
Oh and all the time she knew

Her words still dance inside my head
Her comb still lies beside my bed
But the sun comes up without her; it just doesn’t know she’s gone
And I remember everything she said

Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes
Warm evenings, pale mornings, bottle of blues
And the tiny golden pins that she wore up in her hair
Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes

Track Name: All This
Too much coincidence for just one day
The timing the, touch, the words on the page
I know something’s happening and I’m guessing that
It’s a matter of time ‘til the biter’s bit back
But all this has happened before
All this has happened before

I can see you sitting in that empty chair
You could easily fit so perfectly there
That you belong in my world is easy to say
But I know too well Rome takes more than a day
And all this has happened before
All this has happened before

That time that we spent felt like Darby and Joan
It was like I had known you since the day I left home
Since the day I left mother and the day I left dad
Since the day I left happy and the day I went mad
All this has happened before
All this has happened before

Now things have changed and I don’t feel the same
The fire flickered out before I went insane
Another piece of the jigsaw just fell out of place
At least I could say that I was in the race
All this has happened before
All this has happened before
Track Name: Mexico
You could see the fires of the evening glow
As we crossed the border in to Mexico
Smiling people in a smiling land
Looking for dreams in the palm of a hand

The sound of guitar echoes everywhere
Margaritas and a girl’s dark hair
Firecrackers and a new found friend
Nothing to hide no need to pretend

Play, play your love songs just for me
And we’ll stay, stay until the music sets us free

All too soon see the night turn to day
Time to make a move go back to L.A.
But my heart stays in a southern land
Cooking with tequila, mariachi band

Play, play your love songs just for me
And we’ll stay, stay until the music sets us free
Track Name: Tap
Have you ever been trapped in a corner
Unable to run away
From a scene that’s playing before you
Well that’s how I felt yesterday
I’m not your average Jack or Joe
My feelings go deeper the angles are steeper
My defenses are weaker my outlook seems bleaker
But it’s like I’m a tap and you just turn me on

You take me to distant places
Emotionally I should say
Places that I’ve tried to get to
Alone but always lost my way
I’m not your average Jack or Joe
My feelings go deeper the angles are steeper
My defenses are weaker my outlook seems bleaker
But it’s like I’m a tap and you just turn me on

So if you ever get trapped in a corner
Unable to run away
From a scene that’s playing before you
You’ll know how I felt yesterday
I’m not your average Jack or Joe
My feelings go deeper the angles are steeper
My defenses are weaker my outlook seems bleaker
But it’s like I’m a tap and you just turn me on
Track Name: Love Fades Away
Now we’re not even lovers,
I can’t be angry anymore
Not gonna hide under the covers
or sit behind no bolted door

If you find you love to argue
but you also hate to lose
There’s only one thing that you can do,
bite the bullet and refuse

Cos love fades away
A little every day
Black turns to grey
And night becomes day

I know you used to love me,
it was written on your back
But as making love is easy,
breaking up can make you crack

But love fades away
A little every day
Black turns to grey
And work becomes play, believe me
Track Name: Running
It’s hard to tell if you’re listening to me
I can’t reach, what you want me to be
But I’ll try to be here for a while
Might make you cry, might make you smile

I’ve seen, more than one man should see
Of a world losing its sanity
And you want me to stay here with you
Maybe lose, all I’ve been through

Can’t stop running, paying the price
Can’t stop running, to save my life

I’ve tried, all my life to be free
And to be what I wanted to be
Running fast, running straight
Running strong, running on, running on, running on

Can’t stop running, paying the price
Can’t stop running, to save my life
Track Name: She Don't Care About Time
Hallways and staircases, everyday to climb
To go up to my white walled room
Out on the end of time
Where I can be with my love
For she is all that is fine
And she’ll always be there
My love don’t care about time

I’ll laugh with her, cry with her
Hold her close, she is mine
The way she tells me of her love
Never is she a trial
She don’t have to be assured
Of many a good thing to buy
And she’ll always be there
My love don’t care about time

Her eyes are dark and deep with love
Her hair hangs long and fine
She walks with thieves and all she is
Is never wrong or right
And with her arms around me tight
I see her all in my mind
And she’ll always be there
My love don’t care about time

Track Name: Karma
I’ve been working on my karma
Gotta get myself in line
I’ve been working on my karma
Gotta get myself in line
Pay back all my debts
Set up a brand new state of mind

Gonna clear out my cellar
No more drugs and self abuse
Gonna clear out my cellar
No more drugs and self abuse
Not gonna let them get me
Spread the good news yeah

I can feel the music changing
Hear the drummer rolling on
I can feel the music changing
Hear the drummer rolling on
I can see the future flashing in my face
And then it’s gone

I’ve been working on my karma
Gotta get myself in line
I’ve been working on my karma
Gotta get myself in line
Pay back all my debts
Set up a brand new state of mind
