about

There's a big city about 60 miles from where I live and I used to drive up and down that road a lot in my bass playing, gigging days. This song was inspired by a drive back home from there when I realized that every turn and every junction held some kind of memory for me. All parts by me.

lyrics

Plymouth Road
words and music by
john greene

Driving down a road,
I saw signs to my past
A weight of memories tumbled down
I felt just like a bird,
That can never land
Full of hidden shallowness

If I become the person
I said I’d never be
There’ll be nothing left that’s right,
In this life for me
On the Plymouth road

Driving down a road,
I saw signs to my past
A weight of memories tumbled down
I’m not trying to wave,
I’m not trying to drown
I’m just trying to come around

If I become the person
I said I’d never be
There’ll be nothing left that’s right,
In this life for me
On the Plymouth road

about

John Greene Music Falmouth, UK

John Greene's music is a reflection of his turbulent, non-conformist life and is based on early rock and roll, the pop explosion of the 60’s, the blues and many things Americana.
Best described as ‘Hard Country’, it lives in the space also occupied by the likes of Neil Young and the Grateful Dead. It always involves his unique viewpoint on the world he has lived in and the troubles we all share.
